The first three reunions were roaring successes! The descendants of Roger and Nancy Wood first gathered together on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Reidsville United Methodist Church to share food, pictures, memories, and stories of places, times, and people gone by. There were 48 family members (and a few friends) who attended the church gathering, and about 8 others who joined us later at the old farmhouse. Most atendees brought both a covered dish and donation.

The first "Reunion Grand PooBah" was Jean Shuman (below, center). Jean, with help from Patty Tootle, Nancy Crosby, and many others, did an outstanding job securing the church social hall, putting out tables, organizing the food and exhibits, and cleanup. For the 2nd Reunion on February 7th, 2009, and 3rd Reunions in March 2010 and April 2011, Jean's first cousin Winona Shuman held the honors.  Winona is also coordinating the FIFTH Annual Reunion in 2012, to be held for the second year in a row at the Massey Lakehouse in Claxton, a beautiful setting owned by Allen and Evelyn Wood Massey, a John Wood descendant.

Represented at the first reunion were the descendants of three of Roger & Nancy's sons: John Michael Wood, William Henry Wood, and George Eason Wood. Host Craig Weatherly, a descendant of "Willie" Wood, gave the introduction and brief presentation. The afternoon was spent with all members sharing memories and retracing family footsteps. That afternoon, many family members took a pilgrimage to the old farmhouse formerly owned by William H. & Alice Parker Wood, and currently owned by Nancy Anderson, granddaughter of John Wood. First cousins William Orr, Carolyn Wood Solana, and Mary Alice Walker shared memories of the farm, their parents, and others who have passed on. Children, spouses, and grandchildren enjoyed the great weather and run of the grounds. A few went on to visit the Old Tippins Cemetery, Brewton Cemetery and other sites where relatives are buried.
